The first sign is often visual, but not always obvious. Membrane failure can show up as open seams, punctures, wrinkles, blisters, cracking, shrinking, surface erosion, or deteriorated flashing. On some systems, you may also notice areas where the membrane no longer lies flat or where previous repairs are separating from the field of the roof.
